About

Why this exists

I have spent a good part of my career building and running public key infrastructure, authoritative nameservers, and e-commerce solutions. The past year and a half went on agent infrastructure: proxies, enforcement layers, sandboxed runners, a bus for agents to talk to one another. Different products, and every one of them arrived at the same wall. Something short-lived needs a public HTTPS URL, it has no domain of its own, and there is nobody standing by to buy one. Behind NAT it is worse, because the usual challenge cannot reach the machine at all.

Every piece of the answer is standard - DNS-01, ACME, a registrar account, a signed zone. Assembling them is work that has nothing to do with whatever you set out to build, and then it is yours to keep running. Having already run that layer, I knew what it takes to own.

So I built it once more, properly. The DNS server underneath DNSMint started in early 2026 as a piece of something else, and was still the part every other project needed. It became its own product in August 2026.

Who runs it

I am Karthik, and I operate DNSMint. The domains, the nameservers and the control plane are all ours - holding the namespace is what makes the rest of it possible.

What we hold on your behalf

We stay the registrant on every domain we operate, and a dedicated domain is exclusively yours to use. That is the trade that takes the registrar account, the renewals and the verification step out from between an API call and a working hostname. It is worth understanding before you build on us, so it is answered in full rather than buried: after 6 months on an open, paying account you can transfer a domain to a registrar of your own.
